I LOVE Do-Nothing Weekends!!!

Really, this weekend Michael & I had ZERO plans! It was so great! I had lots of time to do research on our Weekend Get-Away that we are looking forward to in March. I'm still in limbo but I think we are leaning towards a Bed & Breakfast in Fredricksberg--near Austin. I've heard amazing reviews from 2 different people AND there are a TON of wineries around there...our favorite!!
Yesterday we spent a bunch of time at Lowe's pricing out some upgrades to our house (bamboo flooring, chandeliers, sinks...). Call me crazy--one minute we want to sell the house & the next I want to put thousands of dollars into it! Ha!
Today we only left the house to go to the grocery store...the rest of the day we were basically in our PJ's, baking, drinking wine on the patio, reading, e-baying...blah blah blah. I made breakfast this morning. We had eggs, hash browns, toast & mimosas!! Everything was delish & my hubby was impressed! :)

After we went shopping, we made sugar cookies for Mike--HE LOVES THEM & I hate them. Ha! So it's pretty dangerous because he end up eating ALL of them! We worked together...I mixed the ingredients together and rolled the into balls and he frosted & sprinkled them after they cooled off. He was kind of sloppy at it--he didn't really care what they looked like, he just wanted to eat them! Ha!

I also made a loaf of banana bread--I LOVE IT & Mike HATES it! I guess it's true when Paula says "opposites attract". :o) I'll take this to work tomorrow & share so I don't eat the whole loaf!!

This week we put a bunch of stuff on e-bay. It all ended tonight and we ended up profiting $722.00!!! I didn't expect that at all!! And to think it was just from "stuff" around the house that we don't use! WHOOP!!!

Movie, Shopping, Elmo & Crafty Weekend!

This weekend turned out to be a great one! Saturday my mom and I went to see the movie "Last Chance Harvey" it was kind of slow, but ended up to be a very sweet movie. We cried...as always. After that we went to lunch at Brooklyn's--SO delish!! From there Mike & I headed to our step-niece's (is there a such thing??) birthday party. Here is the birthday card I made for her...

She turned 2 yesterday, she is the cutest thing!! They live in Dallas--just about 30-40 minutes away from us. They had a clown lady that made all of the kids balloon animals and then ELMO showed up and sang & danced with the kids! It was the cutest thing ever!! I'm pretty sure Mike & I were the only ones there without children...it DEFinitely made me want one NOW! Hah! Here is a pic of Elmo & the 2nd picture MAY or may not be MY husband holding hands with Elmo during London Bridges Falling Down song. Haha! (Elmo picked him from the audience of adults! Ha!)

To finish off the party we of course had cake & ice cream. It was fun! On the way home--since we were so close--we went to Northpark Mall. I love this place!! Burberry had a HUGE sale going on. A super-duper cute bag was on sale so I couldn't resist the purchase! I love it, it's black & perfect! :o)

Today has been a lazy day for me. Mike has been outside all day doing yard work and back & forth to Home Depot 2 times!! I added a few decor touches to our guest bathroom & one load of laundry.

Here I added the pink touch to the brown bathroom. I love the branches & hearts hanging...I knew I had to display those & this was the perfect room for it!

This is a new idea that I saw on another crafty blog-- Nesting Place. I LOVE her blog and all of the great ideas she has!! This is basically just a circle mirror (from Hobby Lobby--super cheap!) hung on top of the regular mirror.

I just screw in the knob hardware thing (also super cheap from Hobby Lobby) and used ribbon to hang the mirror. I love the look & I think it adds a great touch to the room!

Well, that's my weekend in a nutshell. Tonight I'm going to a relaxed place in Downtown Rockwall for dinner & wine with my next door neighbor. I can't wait--that will be the icing to my wonderful weekend! Cheers!!

Another Card & a sad story...

This is a card for a friend of mine that just graduated college in December. We are going to dinner tomorrow night to celebrate! YAY!! (I love this paper & the safety pin idea--I have used it quite a bit recently...OH, and can you tell I love polka dots!?!)

Oh yeah...I meant to mention this last week...

RIP It's A Grind!!!
January 5th was a sad day...5 days after I can FINALLY drink caffeine the coffee shop that is literally probably 11 steps from my desk CLOSED! Just like that...with no notice!! I meandered over there on Monday the 5th and the place was totally empty! I frequented that place I'd say about 3-4 times a week when I was drinking DECAF--imagine what my plans were for this year!?!? Anyways, onto the point of my story...for Christmas in my stocking Santa gave me a gift card to this coffee shop! I freaked out when I realized that I still had some hard earned cash left on the card. Sooo, I kindly emailed the corp. office of It's A Grind and explained the situation. Today in the mail...low & behold was a check for the balance on the card... $13.08! Sa-Weet!! :o) Little did Santa know that he was going to buy me a tank of gas for Christmas!
Well, the story has a good ending...but I'm still missing my coffee... :o( Good thing we have Starbucks across the street, ugh!

I want to put her in my pocket & take her EVERYwhere!!!

I can always count on my SIL to send super-duper-adorable baby pics of my niece when I need my baby fix!!

Thank You!

I love making cards!! I finally finished my Thank You cards from Christmas. I sent a few out before I remembered to take a picture. So here are a few that I will send out tomorrow.

Anyway, I had another great weekend. Mike & I went to his mom's house for a barbecue dinner party with 3 other couples. It was lots of fun--she even sent me home with a whole LOAF of my FAVORITE banana bread she makes! It's delish! Sunday I went to see Bride Wars & to lunch with my mom. My stepdad is in Malaysia for work so next weekend we are going to see see Last Chance Harvey--I'm excited! Well--back to another episode of Grey's--I'm totally addicted! Don't tell me what happens...I'm still in season 3! :o)

1st Weekend of 2009

...and what a great weekend it was! All of the Christmas decor was put away on Thursday so that only left us with free time!! I cleaned out our 2 guest room closets and Mike reorganized all of our kitchen cupboards! We are toying with the idea of moving into a bigger house so we are going to set an appointment with our Realtor to see what she thinks if we put our house on the market. I stress out every time I think about it but I'm realllly looking forward to a new home with more space. Even though it's just Mike & I and this house is PLENTY big for us--we are hoping to grow our family soon and Mike & I are taking on new hobbies that require more space! So we'll see...

This weekend we went to Northpark Mall and went shopping using our Christmas gift cards. It was great! We also went to see the movie Seven Pounds. I thought it moved pretty slow but it was a good movie. I cried as usual. :o) We went to Maggiano's last night for dinner, since we were already down there. It was deslih! FYI, their eggplant parm. is OH-SO-GOOD! I have about 2 meals of leftovers but it was sooo yummy! We've also found time to watch about 8 episodes of Grey's Anatomy. We are a few seasons into it and we totally love it!

A FEW RANDOM THINGS I stumbled upon this weekend....

Here is a SMALL portion of my husband's hobby. These are all of the bottles that are for a special occasion. He has them all tagged, sorted and he even has an inventory log for the many wine racks throughout the house!

This is my new center-piece for our kitchen table. I bought the super-duper big wine glasses at Michael's Craft Store and filled them with all of the wine corks Mike & I have saved that we have consumed together! Lots of memories!! On the corks that we had at a special occasion we wrote the date & name of the event. It's fun to sift through to see the fun times we've had!!

Did you know I collect art!?! :o) This is our favorite artist Michael Godard. He has a store in Willow Bend called "Oh My Godard". His work is phenomenal! Over the past 4 years Mike & I have collected 4 amazing paintings, one coffee table book and a small strawberry statue. We love it all and have our eyes on a few more pieces!! We hope to one day have a display room with the right lighting to show them off!

Michael Godard--totally not my type but totally Hot if you ask me!! :o)

Here are the pieces that we have displayed in our house...

"Party Like A Rockstar" we purchased this last week and we have the limited edition 51/500!! This piece is signed by Godard & Vince Neil from Motley Crue!

"Champagne Kiss" limited edition 181/250. Mike purchased this for me when we became engaged. This piece is signed by Godard in person. He wrote "Love is... Intoxicating" and then his name on the back. We actually incorporated this into our wedding. On all of the cocktail napkins at the bar we printed "Love is...Intoxicating". Nobody probably knew what it meant...but it was special to us! :o)

"Seven Deadly Zins"--this is an actual wine that we enjoy. The grapes symbolize in detail the 7 different "deadly sins" of the world. We purchased this in May along with "7 Heavenly Chards"

"Seven Heavenly Chards"--this is an actual wine that I LOVE! We bought this one & 7 Deadly Zins as a pair back in May. Love em! All of the grapes are symbols of everything on the label of the wine. He did this for Lodi Vineyards.

Coffee, Coke & 2009

So, last year (2008) I made a New Years Resolution to give up all caffeine. It was so hard for me because I realllllllllllly enjoy a coke from Sonic or McDonald's and usually depend on a caffeine filled cup of coffee in the morning and especially on the weekends after I sleep in!! WELL, I TOTALLY stuck with my resolution for 365 days!!! I was so shocked. I will say that the last few days were so hard because I have been SOOO excited about my coffee & coke that I planned to have THIS MORNING!
Mike & I went to breakfast at a small diner this morning and let me tell you the coffee was SO DELISH! I have been drinking decaf for a whole year...and I can totally tell the difference. I was a bit jittery on the way home but it was good! I'm sure I'll get used to it again! Ha! I had my coke with dinner and it was just as delicious as it could have been! Thank God for caffeine. Now, I just have to not get addicted...again! Hehe!

I'm excited about the New Year...not that I have any complaints about last year, 'cause I don't--but I just have a good feeling about this one! :o) Last night Mike & I stayed at home together to bring in the New Year together. We went to a delicious dinner in Plano with my Mom & Stepdad then came home, watched 3 episodes of Grey's Anatomy (we are so addicted!) and then smooched when the clock struck 12:00am! We "cheers-ed" to healthy families, baby dust and a God-centered loving marriage!

Today we put away the Christmas decorations. :o( I loved them so much, I was sad to see them go back into the attic. We still have the lights on the house cause we hired a service to come put them up & take them down. So I'll still turn those on until they come! (I secretly hope they'll forget our house this year! Hehe) :o)

Oh, have I mentioned I TOTALLY LOVE my niece & nephews!?!?!?

Another NYE adorable pic!
