Husker Football on Halloween!

Today Mike & I drove to Waco (about 2 hours away) to see the Nebraska vs. Baylor football game. Mike (and his whole family) is a HUGE Nebraska fan and it just rubbed off on me over the past 5 years. We had great seats and the weather turned out to be so beautiful!! We just made a day trip and had a great time, especially since the Huskers won!!
I didn't think we would make it home in time for tricker-treaters but apparently I timed everything wrong because we were home way before dusk. Of course, I didn't buy any candy (thinking we wouldn't be home) so we ended up turning all of our house lights off and went to happy hour (that led to dinner) at TGI Fridays during the Halloween evening. We had a blast and are not home for a restful Sunday tomorrow!

Baylor fans...at a HOME game! Pathetic!

Final score...20 - 10 Nebraska WINS!! YAY!

update...

This weekend was another busy one! I spent it with girls, girls, girls!!! I did the following...
  • lunch with a friend on the lake
  • hair appointment
  • bachelorette party
  • bridal shower
  • (neighborhood) girls night out
It was so much fun & it was perfect because we had painters come to paint a few rooms--I was able to stay out of the house to avoid the fumes...blah!

Now I get to rest!!

Yesterday was such a busy & fun day! I started out getting up at 6:30 to go to our bi-yearly garage sale madness in my neighborhood. Some friends & I got started early shopping. It was so fun. They got a bunch of baby related stuff--I was just looking for a lawn-mower (per Mike) since ours crapped out on us last weekend. No luck. Oh well...

In the afternoon I went to a birthday for my friend's little girl, Fiona. She turned ONE and she was just precious!

After that Mike & I went to his dad's house to watch Texas Tech beat Nebraska in football. I just chatted with MIL & SIL, it was at least fun for me. :)

Then I made 5 lbs of mashed potatoes to bring to a friends house for a dinner & game night. All of the food was delish & we played the game Apples to Apples for hours. MUCHO fun!!

We got home after 1am...it's been awhile since we've stayed out that late! Pathetic, I know. :o)

Today was a good resting day. We went house hunting for fun and went to Home Depot to pick out new paint colors for a few rooms we are having painted next week.

Tomorrow I'm off work! YAY! I will continue to Christmas shop...can't wait!

Cherish

One of my employees passed away this week and it has really made me think...
I did not have a close relationship with her but just knowing that she had children, a husband, a mother, father and friends is so sad. She died of a heart condition; she was in her 20's. I pray for her family's strength.

...makes me think how much I am thankful for each precious day that is given to me.

  • be happy being yourself
  • love
  • write a thank you card
  • smile
  • realize your true potential
  • volunteer
  • respect yourself
  • stay away from negative people
  • find peace
  • pray

This is the song Michael & I danced to at our wedding. I'm so thankful for my amazing husband!

Baby Shower

This weekend I hosted a baby shower (with my MIL) for my husband's cousin, Carli. The shower was at a small restaurant in Dallas and we were able to 'rent' out a room that was perfect for us! It was a great day and everything went as planned. 15 ladies joined us for lunch, cake and gifts. We also did a bib activity (instead of a cheesy game). My mom actually made a super-cute bib for each person to decorate. Basically they were reversable bibs...one side with a cute fabric that we picked out to match the baby's room colors and the other side was blank for each person to decorate. We had tons of perm. markers, stencils, and cookie cutters to use as drawing aides. The activity was so fun and everybody enjoyed making a bib for Haven! I wasn't able to take many pictures...but here are a few.

Julia Child.

I'm officially a member of the Dallas Chapter of AIWF (American Institute of Wine & Food)!! I was debating on joining for a few months now, and finally made my decision. Basically this group of 'foodies' & 'wine-o's' plan a few outings each month and visit unbelievable lunches/dinners that accompany delicious wines from all over the world. It's sooo great!

Today I went to the AIWF event, it was a 'Julia Child Inspired Luncheon' at Neiman Marcus. I couldn't pass it up. My friend & I enjoyed an amazing version of Julia's Beef Bourguignon that was to-die-for! Many more courses paired up with amazing wines completed my wonderful lunch! Ahhh!

After that, since I was in the area, I went to Sprinkles to bring home Mike's favorite treat as a surprise. What a great Saturday!
