Just Another Manic Monday!!

::Yaaaawn!!::
I'm not sure my body was ready to start this week when I woke up this morning before the sun came out. Last week Mike & I kept saying that we were going to have such a relaxing weekend since we didn't have any plans...but we ended up making a few plans on the spot.

Friday was nice--Mike was off from work and he had an amazing dinner prepared when I got home from work. He bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers AND even had a glass of wine poured! Ahhh, it was nice!

Saturday, we slept in and made a delicious brunch. Saturday night we went to our neighborhood friends house for wine & dinner. It was so great. They had 4 different wines and it was perfectly pared with each course. We had a blast till 1:15am!!! We haven't stayed out that late in SO long! It was definitely nice to be in the neighborhood, that made for a quick 3 minute drive home!

Sunday, Mike had a few neighborhood guys over to watch 'THE' football game. I don't keep up with football at all...so I was clueless but apparently this was a big game?!? I put together some munchies for them and headed out to the coffee shop with my book & iPhone. I read, played games on my phone and sipped on coffee.
Sunday night was my neighborhood Social Committee meeting. We meet at a nice restaurant in Rockwall that has 1/2 price bottles of wine on Sundays. Perfect place for us! We enjoyed dinner and started to plan our Easter Eggstravganza!!! Last year we had over 4,000 eggs and a TON of kiddos!!! We were able to accomplish a lot and will make some fun changes this year!

Mike & I also completed our itinerary for our Napa Valley vacation. It seems like we have been planning it forever! Ahh, we are finally done and it is just around the corner that we will be there! I can't wait!!!

Monday is here now and this will be a super busy 2 weeks ahead. Here we goooooo....

The Pregnancy Pact

Inspired by a true story, the film explores the costs of teen pregnancy with a story of a fictional "pregnancy pact" set against the backdrop of actual news reports about teen pregnancy from June 2008. Sidney Bloom (Thora Birch), an on-line magazine journalist, returns to her hometown to investigate the sudden spike in teenage pregnancies at her old high school. Almost immediately, she comes up against Lorraine Dougan (Nancy Travis), the head of the local conservative values group and mother of Sara, a newly pregnant 15-year-old. Meanwhile, the school nurse (Camryn Manheim) tries to convince the school to provide contraception to students to address the pregnancy epidemic but is met with great opposition from the school and community. As the number of pregnant girls climbs to 18, a media firestorm erupts when Time Magazine reports that the rise in the number of pregnancies at the school is the result of a "pregnancy pact." As the mystery unfolds about whether or not "the pact" is real, Sidney soon realizes that all of the attention is disguising the much larger issues that are at the core of the story.

Jammin Away!!

Work is busy but thanks to my iPhone home station thingy I was able to jam my way through work. I love this thing!! The sound is super clear and it's perfect for my desk at work! Today I turned on Pandora (LOVE that app) and entered Matchbox 20...

...so it has played tons of great songs that bring me back to my high school & concert days! 24 more minutes of work...but who's counting?!? :)

Last night I was reminded that tequila might not be the best choice of liquor for me. I haven't taken a shot of ANYthing in a very long time. It definitely took me back to my younger days. It didn't help that I had to get up at 6am to visit a client this morning either! I can barely stand to look at this picture. Ahhh, today will be a long day! On a positive note...I can't WAIT for Grey's tonight!!!

Who is Steve?!?! I hate STEVE!!!

Sooooo, here we go with The Bachelor again!! I really, really, really, REALLY LOVE this show for some really crazy reason!?! It's super cheesy and I'm almost convinced that it's 99% scripted...but please FEED it to me, I love it! Well, I love it so much I decided to visit the gossip blogs. I went just to peak in and see what people were saying about this years handsome pick, Jake...


...so I visit a certain website and APPARENTLY this guy, Steve--that runs the website, spoiled the WHOLE show for me. Of course I kept reading and reading and reading and, like I said earlier--I was feeding on the gossip! I was SO interested--I couldn't stop! It even said in bold letters "*******SPOILERS********"...and I KEPT reading! I'm really just mad at myself because now I know the whole ending of this marvelous show! I know who Jake picks in the end. This is my warning...DO NOT visit Steve's website if you want to be surprised in the end.
I guess I can always just follow along for the fun of it to see if he was right?!? OR, I could use the 2 hours each Monday to do something more productive, like sleep, make cards, work out, read a book, enjoy time with my husband, call my BFF, cook dinner...NAH, I'm pretty sure I'll continue to watch this train-wreck and love every minute of it. But for the record I'm still really pissed at Steve for spilling his guts!! Where does he get his info anyway????


p.s. My wonderful husband just did 'inventory' on our wine collection and he just shouted from the other room that he counted 105 bottles of wine in our house!! Geeez, we need to get to drinking OR I need a bigger house! Cheers!!! :)

work, work & more work

My job has been keeping me super busy over the past few months. We have a small office (2 recruiters & 1 manager), so basically all of the work gets split between the other recruiter & myself. Well...this past week my co-worker gave his 2 week notice! I knew it was coming because we are pretty close and he has been frustrated for awhile. So this means that my work life will be bonkers until we find a replacement and get the person trained. Ugh, I can't stop thinking about it. It's never fun starting a new job and learning everything new...but it's never fun being the person to train the new person in addition to ALL of the other daily duties either!! I'm sad to lose my co-worker & friend but it might be a blessing in disguise. We'll see....

Let's hope I don't end up like THIS!!! eek!

ICE!

Today the roads are covered in ice and I have decided to stay home from work!! It's nice, BUT, I would normally spend my day off at the movies, lunch with friends, washing the car, running errands...or something outside. Today might be a blessing in disguise. Now I get to crank up the heat in the house, stay in my PJs, make french toast & coffee, read my wonderful book and of course play 'Words With Friends' on my phone--I'm pretty much addicted!! My poor husband had to go into work for a 10 o'clock presentation but hopefully will be able to come home soon afterward. I get so nervous driving in these conditions!

On the brighter side...we pulled out the calendar last night and realized we leave for Napa Valley in less than a month!!! We are beyond excited!! We also decided to book another trip to VEGAS!!! I know, I know....I feel like we just got back from there, but we LOVE Vegas! So last night we booked our flights for May! Last year we saved up ALL of our vacation days till the last few months of the year (becuase of a potential strike situation at Mike's company)...and I hated it. I felt like the year drug on by and all I did was work, work, work. So we are spreading it out in 2010!

I know I'm a bit late...but cheers to a great 2010!!! I hope it's a great year for everybody!
